Sunny Side Up Café: Where Breakfast Blooms and Design Lives

Sunny Side Up Café: Where Breakfast Blooms and Design Lives

Cheers to Tracy!

Project Location: Beirut, Lebanon
Design Year: 2025
Scope: Interior Concept Design, Layout & Zoning, Branding Integration, Materials & Styling

From Scrambled Eggs to a Spatial Story

Every great concept starts with a spark—and this one began in the kitchen. A chef’s passion for crafting the perfect plate of scrambled eggs inspired a full-fledged interior concept for a café that’s as sunny and soulful as the breakfast that birthed it.

The brief was simple yet bold: translate the organic beauty and nostalgia of the chef’s signature dish into a space that celebrates design, flavor, and emotional connection. The result? A whimsical café concept where yolk-yellow hues, floral flourishes, and storytelling layers come together in a warm, welcoming space that’s part eatery, part boutique, and part installation art.

Interior Style & Vision

The aesthetic is a fusion of botanical charm, vintage Lebanese flair, and contemporary minimalism. The design plays with unexpected elements: egg-shaped motifs, pressed flowers, and repurposed materials that make the space feel authentic and ever-evolving.

Layout & Zoning (~40–60 sqm)

  • Dining Zone (25 sqm)
Seating for 12–16 guests with a mix of vintage Lebanese chairs and a floating banquette upholstered in printed botanical fabrics. Natural light, soft curves, and earthy tones create a cozy atmosphere for breakfast and beyond.

  • Statement Art Wall
The focal point: a sculptural “Sunny Side Up” wall featuring resin egg forms with pressed floral yolks—a poetic nod to the café’s culinary origin.

  • Concept Store (15 sqm)
A curated retail corner offering colorful ceramics, handmade preserves, sustainable lifestyle goods, and pastel-glazed tableware. The display table? A salvaged plank on terrazzo legs, shaped like cracked eggshells.

  • Barista Station (5 sqm)
A compact terrazzo counter made of crushed yellows, violets, and greens, reminiscent of herbs and florals from the kitchen.

  • (Optional) Outdoor Nook
A serene corner with jasmine vines, a wooden bench, and a potted lemon tree, offering a perfect morning escape.

Color Palette

  • Eggshell White

  • Golden Yolk Yellow

  • Spinach Green

  • Violet Bloom

  • Blush Pink

  • Rustic Woods
Accents in brushed brass and ceramic textures add refinement.

Materiality & Design Details

  • Floors: Micro cement and worn wood

  • Seating: Linen & mixed fabrics

  • Lighting: Paper spheres and soft pendants

  • Décor: Hanging egg-shaped planters with herbs

  • Tableware: Playful mismatched vintage cutlery and pastel-glazed ceramics

Design with a Twist

Every detail is meant to be lived and remembered:

  • Customers dine with custom tableware—and can buy the cup or plate they used.

  • Cushions, ceramics, and cutlery are tagged and shoppable, turning the café into a living boutique.

  • The café becomes a multi-sensory design experience, not just a place to eat.

Conclusion

Sunny Side Up Café isn’t just a place to have breakfast—it’s a celebration of comfort, craftsmanship, and creativity. Rooted in food and grown with emotion, it invites guests to slow down, smile, and take a little piece of the story home with them.
